What is the Chicken Drop?
Saturday, October 17 — 5:30 PM
Sat

5:30 PM
Contest Time
50/50
How it works
Similar to a football pool, there are 200 randomly placed numbers on a large board inside a covered pen. Individuals buy tickets which correspond to the numbers on the board. Once the tickets have been sold, at a pre-arranged time, a well-fed chicken is placed inside the pen. Then the wait begins — the first three chicken “drops” on the numbered squares are the winning numbers. At least two people from the committee are on hand to be certain that the chicken “drops” are clearly on a number. If the drop covers more than one number, the numbered box with the largest amount of “drop” is declared the winning number.
STEP By STEP
1
Buy your ticket
Purchase a ticket corresponding to one of the 200 numbered squares on the board inside the pen.
2
The chicken enters
Once all tickets are sold, a well-fed chicken is placed inside the covered pen at a scheduled time.
3
The wait begins
Two committee members monitor the chicken to confirm which numbered squares it “drops” on.
4
Three winners declared
The first three drops determine the winners. If a drop spans multiple squares, the square with the most coverage is declared the winner.
50/50 Raffle payout — Sunday, October 19 at 11:00 am
The Chicken Drop payout along with the 50/50 raffle prize is awarded at the Sunday closing session, right before the Roundup ends. You must be present to collect your winnings.
